• Salary: salary is determined according to the salary scales in our collective labor agreement. Additionally,  employees receive an 8% holiday pay and a set end-of-year pay of 8.3%.
  • Personal budget: Apart from training and development in your position, we also offer a personal budget which can be used to purchase services related to your personal development while at VUmc. Read more.
  • Working week: there are three different types of full-time working weeks and they depend on the type of position you have. Doctors have a full working week of 40 hours, for example, as a Medical Intern your week will be 46 hours per week.  All other positions have a 36 hour working week.
  • Vacation: We work with an annual hour system. This means that the yearly total amount of hours that you have to work are calculated based on your contract, specific to your contractual work week. In addition to bank holidays, additional holiday time is calculated based on your yearly hours (9% of your annual hours). Based on a 36 hour working week, you will have 169 holiday hours

  • Travel: we offer our employees a financial tax-break for travel expenses directly related to travel between home and office. Work related travel expenses will be reimbursed, as agreed upon with your manager.
  • 30% tax rule (30% facility): if you come to work in the Netherlands and you are not a Dutch citizen, there is an opportunity to receive a tax break. This tax break is 30% of your wage, tax-free.   • Employee parking: the number of parking spots for employees is limited. You will need to apply for a parking spot and you will only receive a parking pass if you meet specific criteria. Read more.
  • VUmc Academy: VUmc Academy is an in-house center for education and training. It runs around 200 education programs, training courses and workshops for staff at VUmc and other care institutions in the Netherlands. Read more.
